For 9 disks I would need to print a bigger case, but this one suits me well for now 😉

Daily backup to backblaze b2 and also to local storage with kopia. Its been running for a year I think, no issues at all. I didnt need a real backup yet, just did some restore tests so far
I was asking the same question a year ago and now Im running 30-40 services, all available remotely using VPN.
Everyone is talking about tailscale and how easy it is to setup (never tried it), but I went for pure wireguard VPN and IMO its not complicated at all. I have 3 devices with access to VPN, but I also use reverse proxy NPM (+ pihole as DNS server) just to be able to use custom domain like nextcloud.example
instead of typing IP:PORT
. I dont feel comfortable with opening ports to public, but had 0 issues with wireguard port opened (so far).
Just giving you an example, other people here might have better advices
If OP cant use more than one disk at once, how can they benefit from mergerfs?
In my country pi4 8GB ram with PSU 130€ and then you need SD card and/or SSD
Adding my data as well:
My server is diy desktop pc - mbo MSI Z270-A PRO with celeron G3930 and 16GB RAM, 3x SSD on 550W PSU, idles at 23W. After adding another 3.5" HDD consuption went up to 34W. 34W in Ctoatia is around 34€ a year.
Some SFF PCs are at 10-15W. SBCs like rpi should be below 10 W, but dont think you can get anything new for 80€
Im not afraid of command line, but also dont feel like linux guy yet. The thing is that installing and using some distros are way easier than windows. I installed POP OS recently and cant believe how smooth and easy it was. Average windows users might not need command line at all on distro like that
Casual users dont get on private trackers hehe. Joking, some guys were posting site that tracks when private trackers have open invites, hope someone will link again. Some trackers are almost impossible to join or keep up with their rules, but like torrentleech should be easy enough. Ive never used usenet since Im on private trackers for years, but I bet someone can recommend one here.
You can look for older redit posts about recommendation for both, but first decide what contet you are aiming for. Some trackers are just for movies, some are focused on music, but there are also general purpose trackers like torrentleech.
Oh I love this one. How are gateron switches compared to MX? I had shitty romer g on logitech and replaced it with another one with MX and its day and night difference
I went for wireguard VPN instead of exposing services. Its much more safe afaik, but you have to configure each device you want to give access (aka scanning QR code). You also dont need to buy a domain for that. Exposed services would be easier to use, especially if you want to use it on many devices
Private trackers I seed until Im running out of storage, public ones up to 1.2 ratio.
I used to upload some content, but dont have anything thats not already available anymore.
I did some donations to our fellow pirates tho
Better then pay for usenet instead of VPN. Not sure is 0% enough to protect yourself
Thx for sharing, looks awesome
Im using npm with letsenrypt for local network only, but couldnt find a way to use pihole gui without /admin. So I have bookmarked pihole.domain/admin
Try another tracker like 1337x or even better try to get in some private trackers. Alternatively get usenet (paid service)
Thx!
Pihole + firefox + ublock for adds here. Im not using this, but its also possible to set your home server connect to VPN provider and then route all traffic through that. Then you can use your selfhosted VPN to connect with phone and use both at the same time. Or just enable add blocking on your VPN provider, I guess most of them have one
Same here, but its called gluetun 😉 it supports most VPN providers
One of the first services on my server was nextcloud in docker container from lsio. Never had problems so there was no need to try AIO, but so many people recommend that, it will be my next setup if this one fails me
