On top of that, I’m seeing a lot of manipulation. She accuses you of trying to manipulate her into feeling guilty, which is literally what she is doing to you. This is not a healthy relationship; a good partnership will build both parties up. She needs to work on herself, alone, before you continue any sort of relationship with her. You need an exit strategy before she affects your health any further.

But seriously, a lot of people don’t really get how big the switch from Latin was. My dad attended church pre- and post-Vatican II and said that so many people complained loudly that we’d no longer have mass in a dead language. I guess the Liturgy of the Eucharist used to be done with the priest facing away from the congregation and a lot of people also complained when it was done facing the congregation. God forbid the plebes feel like participants in their own religion.

They act like Yellowstone and other areas are just an extension of Disney World: the animals are tame and nothing bad will happen to you, otherwise why would they just let people in to wander around?

We do have “poultry” as a catch-all for domestic birds. Not exactly the same as beef/cow, but definitely has a Norman connection.

Normally, I would recommend citronella, either the grass or the candles, but I believe it is toxic to dogs.

I believe lavender, catnip and basil are safe, but they’re all mints and may try to take over your garden or yard. They all grow very well in pots though.

You can also try setting a trap. Put out some soapy water. The females are the ones biting you and they need water to lay eggs. They’ll fall in the water and the soap prevents them from escaping. I haven’t actually tried this with mosquitos, just other pests, but I have friends who swear by it.
