I replaced the YouTube app on my SO’s phone with a Brave Browser YouTube link (Brave includes both features out of the box) because having to sit through ads when they wanted to show me a video was driving me nuts…
I use Firefox because of tamper monkey, buy Brave is my go to easy solution for friends so I don’t have to explain about installing extras.
Disco Elysium is the game that instantly came to mind. Basically all story that is brilliantly written with incredible voice acting. I hope OP checks it out.
All of my social activities involve quiet rooms and less than 10 people. Although I will say that if the crowd gets big enough then the white noise all the talking creates can be calming. Unfortunately the hundreds of people bumping into you kinda ruins the whole thing.
Card Hunter is an excellent trpg/ deck builder that has card based actions. Excellent single player with multilayer options that I haven’t explored much because I generally need to be able to pause for extended periods, but it seems solid enough (no idea if there is an active community though).
You can pay to skip ahead, but I had a great time never paying for anything. Probably put 100 hrs plus in.
This is the message they are sending to users:
Hey u/username,
We will soon begin rolling out changes to Reddit’s User settings. It is getting a refresh that includes changes to ad personalization, privacy preferences, and location settings.
As part of these changes, we are retiring a setting that you have previously turned on that limited how we used your activity from the Reddit platform to personalize ads. We have replaced the setting with a new option to select categories of ads that you may not wish to see.
More details are available in our announcement and help center.
These changes are rolling out starting today and you may see the changes over the next few days.
Seriously email your IT and/or privacy team at the university level. I work at a university and that would be removed ASAP for sharing PII. If you’re in the US or UK it’s a major violation of your privacy. Unfortunately most IT offices aren’t involved in many of the decisions and many of the people making those decisions are complete ignorant to the situation.
It’s by far the best mobile browser that let’s you run tampermonkey and uBlock on Android and it’s not close. I haven’t found an add-on that let’s me run video/audio in the background, so until then Brave stays installed so that running YouTube with no ads and the phone locked is an option.
Aside from that, Firefox gives fantastic customization options, runs well, and is less vulnerable to attacks specifically because it has a smaller market share and it makes more sense to target Chromium based browsers.
I’m not mad, I just prefer open source software that doesn’t collect my data. What are your favorite things about sync that I can’t get with Jereboa?
What keyboard bug? I haven’t run into it, and I’ve been using it for months.
It’s crazy to me how small the Jereboa usage is. It didn’t collect or share data and has a great interface. What are these other apps giving that makes you want to use them? Genuinely curious on what I’m missing out on.
The tank game on Wii Sports (reminiscent of Atari Tanks but coop)
PS1 Final Fantasy Tactics (especially with mods, particularly FFT 1.3)
PC Master of Magic (especially with community mods, Caster of Magic is a favorite)
SNES Super Mario World
SNES Super Bomber Man
“If you are racist, I will attack you with the North”
Confirmed that it let me submit 3 before asking to signup for a free account, pretty cool
This is sadly a much more likely scenario
