  • the overwhelming majority of humans who have ever lived “accomplished” absolute jack diddly squat, they just spent their lives picking berries and making twine.

compared to that we can “accomplish” miracles with a laptop and a browser, just go add some information on a niche wikipedia article and you’ve contributed more to humanity than most people could have ever dreamed of.

  • well why is it good? why not just assume the boilerplate as the default and require the user to override it if they want to do something fancy?

it’s just busywork to always need to write the same stuff, and it also makes the code less readable and many people look at all that boilerplate and nope the fuck out.

This is why python is so good for getting people to realize that programming isn’t magic, you just write the equivalent of one short sentence and BAM text in the terminal, no need to import the basic ability to print text which is so incredibly inane.

that’s the beauty of not believing in a soul or similar: for teleportation to affect your mind it would have to affect your body, and that’s nothing unusual.
It’s just a hazard like any other, absolute worst case it scrambles your brain and leaves you with locked-in syndrome, and the only thing causing that to be worse than death is that we have a cultural taboo against euthanasia.
