I absolutely resonate with both your comments, it’s the best function reddit served imo. The big mainstream subs were just content factories to create posts to doomscroll through.
In my opinion emojis are great for casual discussions and they convey a little playfulness.
For more serious topics they might be a little inappropriate or appear out of place for some people.

That’s a good point. Smaller niche communities with more personal connections will inevitably sprout when the ‘main thing’ hits a high user count.
Primarily authentic opinions on things that I want some input for, like products, experiences etc. Also gaming communities for seperate games.
It’s relatable and told in a humorous way, it kinda feels like a nice relative telling you a story as a kid
