  • I used to have a roommate who was in dental school. He said getting dates was incredibly easy because everybody realized it was the last time they would be in a large community of single people their age who were also intelligent and had similar interests and earning potential. And indeed, he went out with probably 20 different women that year. And he was incredibly picky and would write them off after one date - she’s too loud, too quiet, doesn’t drink, drinks too much, swears too much, smokes… Right at the end of the year he found the one, then had to go off and spend 2 years doing public health dentistry in another state to pay for his school loan. After 2 months he found another the one there and dumped the local one. So okay, I’m sure that gripping saga was worth telling lol.

  • Yeah I know he got help from various billionaires, but Mr. and Mrs. Middle America ignored stuff that goes against their own character. Most people don’t associate with anybody who’s on trial for multiple felonies. They disapprove of guys who cheat on their wives. They would frown on a grown man saying “grab 'em by the pussy.” Trump is not a person decent churchgoing Americans normally idolize - let alone pastors and ministers. He has an uncanny charm with these people, which I chalk up to his con man ability. But even a con man loses his audience when he drops pretense and acts like an asshole. The Orange Sack of Shit seems unnaturally immune to that.

  • What devil has this guy made a deal with? No matter how stupid, obnoxious or abrasive he is, people worship him. He constantly screws himself over and then before he has to face serious consequences he trips on a rock and somehow everything’s alright again for him. At this point he literally can shoot someone on 6th Avenue and get away of it. I think Trump is solid evidence that we’re living in a simulation and somebody is fucking with us, because life just doesn’t work the way it works for him. Somebody’s thumb is on the scale.

  • Yes, in another comment I explained that many years ago I wrote a software package to map program functions to the F keys, which on my keyboard were arranged in 2 columns of 5 on the left. It was before putting them in a single row across the top became the standard. The software displayed a diagram showing the key functions, laid out in the same pattern as the physical keys. I found it very easy to get the hang of looking at this diagram and pressing the right button without looking at the keys. Each keypress brought up new options, basically a multilevel submenu system, but using the buttons was faster than moving a mouse around and clicking.

Of course the concept is very obsolete for normal computer keyboards because that f-key layout isn’t around anymore. But if the device had the buttons right under the screen the key functions could be displayed above them. I could see that “soft buttons” concept becoming popular.
