You would likely start from the center of your galaxy, then pick a culturally relevant star near the outskirts, in our case Sol, and call that, well, something (Solbound?) Then work your right angles from there. You could pick other cultural stars in the other directions too.
Most galaxies are pretty flat, so you’d probably have to reference a conveniently positioned other galaxy for your up and down.
I wear a baseball style cap every day to protect my long hair during my day job in the HVAC industry. I stuff it up in there
There are 2 types of real carbon credits, easy credits and hard credits. The easy ones are cheap things like planting trees and efficiency programs, the hard credits are expensive, carbon capture tech that we haven’t perfected and will always be costly.
Poor countries are attracted to the idea of selling their cheaply attained credits for money today. And why wouldn’t they? They are indebted and struggling. But it’s going to fuck them over in the future when they need credits for their own carbon accounting and they’re out of easy credits to make.
No hate or judgment here, it’s just the next steps in how global imperialism will continue to fuck over these countries
Puerto Rico has to be one of the worst victims of the industry with also the least recourse due to a lack of statehood
Probably realized he could cut server overhead by 40% this way

$13 a day for lunch 5 days a week is $3380 a year. Pack your own lunch for a couple bucks a day and you’re in the right direction.

At first I thought this image was trying to say that wind turbines require too much mining
India appears to be a country that contains multitudes and is hard to pin down. It has a problematically large contingent that is deeply islamaphobic. The country suffers from low regulation and prejudice as well as a shitty right wing president. But much of it is beautiful with rich culture. The prominent religions are pretty benign when compared to american christianity as far as I can tell
I’ve never seen a set of graphs with so few labels for everything it was showing
It makes sense that the things you have more physical relationships with like stoves or lawn equipment would make people think about other items. You get a central heatpump to replace your central air heat/ac and you can quickly forget anything is different outside of a slight noise reduction
It’s 103% true. I crushed the man after interrogating his politics and finding thar we disagreed 6.7% politically. Beyond petty, solidly into incompatible range, it had to be done.
No I’m not. Unfortunately one of the problems with tankies is they don’t call themselves that most of the time. But I can confidently claim I’m not because when a fellow leftist disagrees with me on 5% of something, I gently explain why I believe what I do, and then proceed to not be mad if the petty difference continues.
Frutiger is the perfect mix of streamlined and personality, with a softness to make you feel like you aren’t dying.
Important note: not the onion
This is great, it reminds me of a Volts podcast episode about a company that uses large sheets of Limestone to do the same. But if this is really that much more efficient, then we have a real solution on our hands
