That’s the issue I have with blocking NSFW too. I don’t want to see porn, but there is NSFW stuff I do want to see. You’re forced to throw the blanket over everything, regardless of what it is.

Apollo. Everyone in my house did. Two have stopped using reddit entirely, I’m still checking on a couple of communities until their counterparts take off here. I’m using Dystopia there now because I’ll never, ever download their shitty app.

Wow, this looks beautiful! Love the selection of icons, too. It already feels great and I can tell this is gonna be stellar. Just being able to pin communities is something I really missed from Apollo/reddit so it’s rad that you’ve already got it in there! 🙌

Edit: Any chance we can get rotation when viewing images so we can view them in landscape? As an older lady my close vision is going and I often need to go landscape to see/read things better. :)

Overrated anyway. I was born and raised in L.A. and there are a million better burgers to be found. Oh, and their fries really just suck. :|

We have very elderly mothers, and sisters with cancer, so my family still masks. I smile at people all the time, they smile back, everyone goes away feeling good. I don’t understand how some people get so worked up over masks. 🤦‍♀️

Covid is still around. It never went away, and it’s still killing people every day.

Take it from an Angeleno, they’re really overrated.

The hospital I get my care from here in Los Angeles still requires masks, and the security guard will make you put one on before you can enter the lobby. 👍

It’s necessary where I live too (inland Los Angeles) and we also keep our thermostat at 80 all summer. The summer power bills really hurt, but we have to. We’re unfortunately not in a position for solar financially but I really wish we were!

I started a community to track the H5N1 global outbreak but I do NOT want to moderate it long term; if it picks up, the anti-vax/Plandemic people are going to start showing up (they already do sometimes in the subreddit for it). I feel like opening the doors to Threads is going to hasten that.

Christian closed the sub for a while until everyone’s emotions settle down. The sub will be back at some point, even if the app isn’t. :)

Hey all,

Almost a week since Apollo closed and it’s been such a weird adjustment, I really miss coming here and talking to you folks about feedback and cool ideas for Apollo going forward, and scribbling down ideas on how I could make them happen. I thought Friday would mean things would calm down, and they have a fair bit, but it was surprising and nice to get almost a second wave of really nice comments from people saying how much Apollo meant to them over the years.

(I started on app development because the thought of being able to jump on the bus and one day hopefully see someone using something I built felt like the coolest thing imaginable, and the idea that so many people used and loved Apollo really really makes me smile.)

I’m not really looking to come onto Reddit at the moment, and a few friends have indicated the subreddit at times can skew a bit over the top with anger about Reddit’s actions at times. Trust me, I totally get the frustration, but we’ve had a “no dumping on other apps” rule in this subreddit forever for a reason: we want to be nice people, and in the case where others are maybe disappointing us, be the bigger people.

That being said, I don’t really want to have to keep a keen eye over this subreddit, nor do I expect the other moderators here to, so I think for the time being – until maybe emotions settle a bit more and this place can turn into a nice flowering meadow of memes and reminiscing – I’m going to set the subreddit to restricted so no further posts can be made, you can still talk in existing posts or here if you so please. Heck, tell me something fun you’ve done over the past week, or give me a game recommendation to play (I should be finishing ToTK soon).

(Hopefully this is the one subreddit Reddit is okay with the moderators changing things, at least for a bit. :p)

Guns are so cool. Everyone should be allowed to carry one anywhere they want. What could go wrong? Let’s thank this family for their sacrifice.

We didn’t get it until the beginning of the year and it laid the household low. The younger people recovered more quickly than us middle-aged ones did. I think it was about two weeks before I really had my energy back.

It only took one person to take their mask off to eat indoors one time to get us all sick and he was really pissed at himself. 😐 We still mask because we have elderly parents, cancer patients, and a transplant patient in the family, and really don’t want to infect them.
