Unfortunately, the article doesn’t mention where he got it. Was he visiting some lab or did he get bit someplace some locals should be taking precautions?
(He’s retired, but I don’t know if he still has a presence in the industry or not, giving talks and doing visits.)
3·3 months agoThere are people in temporate states like CA that just put water in. That’s why I explicitly mentioned it.
+1 to making sure your washer fluid can handle the cold and to making sure your tires handle snow/ice well. (There are definitely all-seasons that’ll do well or better than some winter tires. Unless you know that where you’re moving doesn’t plow down to pavement, I’d avoid studded tires.). Tirerack.com used to have a ton of data about tire performance on ice & snow, so you might look there, but they’ve been reducing the range of tires they carry and rate in the last few years so they may not have your tires.
Find a snow brush for your car that will let you reach & clear the snow off your car. I’ll also say I often am most disappointed by the ice scraper on a brush – meaning that’s the part that makes me regret the purchase of an individual brush.

3·4 months agoMy thought on that is that they needed a new location so their image didn’t just look like a modified version of another of the victim’s public images, so NK searched for a stock photo for a professional looking location. Ars has just located the stock image they started from.
My guess would be that they needed to get a mid-point between existing photos of the guy whose identity they stole and the guy that would show up in the video interviews.
4·4 months agoI think it’s that the parent company took out huge loans to buy Redbox. And that’s the streaming service they setup has ongoing costs and overhead, like licencing. And the loans they took out to make their own content.
The actress was born in Cleveland, Ohio. So there’s that.

I could be wrong, but “capital gains” to me means only on the increase in value. So if they bought the house for $200k, they would be paying tax only on the $300k.
It’s a huge opening to get sued. So you could lose millions, but it’ll never make you a cent. So most are advised to just confirm very basic information like how long the employee worked there.
